The French car manufacturer Renault is all set to launch Renault Scala with a high-end variant in the Indian market. This car is the fifth car in the line-up of cars that this company has launched in India. And possibly its automatic variant also might come in future – but not in near future. It is one of the 30 different cars from different car manufacturers scheduled to be launched in the Indian car market around Diwali.
As it appears on the Net, the car’s outward appearance is quite impressive indeed with its butch front and hexagonal grille from Pulse hatchback. Renault Scala is quite comfortable with roomy passenger seat and rear AC vents. Its high-end version offers twin air-bags and anti-lock braking system towards increased safety. The one which runs on petrol comes with 1.5 litre HR 15DE petrol motor which produces maximum 100 bhp and the other which runs on diesel comes with 1.5 litre K9K turbo diesel motor which produces 85 bhp.
The manufacturing cost of this car is not much higher than Nissan Sunny of which it is a re-engineered version. The reason is that most of the features of the above-mentioned car are retained in this new car in order to cut the additional development charges which otherwise it might incur. And since this new model will be coming with a price tag which is about Rs 20,000 to 60,000 higher than the older model, the company stands to gain higher margin of profit over it.
Small wonder that Renault is very much hopeful about Renault Scala’s success both in Indian market and on Indian roads. Nissan Sunny succeeded that way.
