Maruti Suzuki India Limited is all set to launch its MPV Ertiga. The Ertiga was showcased at the2012 New Delhi Auto Expo in January. The price will be conveyed shortly. Having witnessed the labor issues in 2011, the company would like to showcase itself as the country's foremost auto maker in 2012 to recover from the unfortunate incident.
Though the prices have not been disclosed yet, the MPV will be priced close to Rs 7 lacs. With its launch, the car will launch the country's first 7 seater and there may also be a 5 seater in the offing. As far as the engine configuration of this MPV is concerned, the vehicle will be equipped with the 1.4 litre K14 VVT petrol engine for a maximum power of 94 bhp. The diesel engine of this car holds a 1.3 litre DDiS super turbo diesel engine, which is already present in the Maruti Suzuki SX4 diesel.
The peak power will be 89 bhp, whereas it generates maximum torque of 200 Nm. It is a performance oriented engine which also delivers good mileage of 16.02 kmpl (petrol variant) and 20.77 kmpl (diesel version). The operating cost of the vehicle will be reduced by the company, as it is expected to have low maintenance cost and boast of long service intervals.
There is more good news for automobile lovers as following close on the heels with Maruti, Hyundai is also planning on launching its new car the Sonata, in the sedan segment.
