Maruti- India's most trusted brand for family cars is all set to launch the Ertiga in March this year. The Ertiga is a compact MPV and will compete with Mahindra`s Xylo and Toyota Innova. The pricing will be highly competitive at Rs 6 Lakh and the MPV will be significant not only for Maruti but for the parent brand Suzuki as well.

Commenting on the purported launch, Mr Shinzo Nakanishi, Maruti's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer said, “With the Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki will mark its entry in the utility vehicle segment in India. For Suzuki, it is another fine example of its expertise in developing technologies for fuel efficient, light weight compact cars. Ertiga is very significant not only for Maruti but for [parent] Suzuki Motor Corp. as well.”
The Maruti Ertiga is the 14th model and is developed largely at the company`s India R&D center in Japan. Ertiga will be manufactured at Maruti`s Manesar plant for Suzuki globally, akin to the Astar and will be sold with a 1.3 litre diesel engine and a new K-series 1.4 litre petrol engine. The car is likely to be exported as well.
