Hero Honda Gets A New Name; Announces to Unveil The New Logo on Aug 9

Hero Honda Motors Ltd. (HHML) got its new name Hero MotoCorp Ltd on July 29, 2011. The company received the necessary statutory approval from the Registrar of the Companies (RoC) for the change over to the new name. Company is set to unveil the New Logo in London on August 9, 2011.

Commenting on the rebranding of the company, Dr. Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero MotoCorp Ltd said, “Today is a historic day. It is not just a change of name; it marks the ushering in of a new era that will unlock the immense potential of this company to build its own capabilities to grow beyond boundaries and set new benchmarks. As we set out on this exciting new journey, we look forward to the continued support of all our stakeholders including dealer friends, suppliers, employees and all our associates.”

HHML has bagged the top position and has continued to be the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturing company for 10 successive years. Moving ahead with the rebranding strategy, the renaming of the company will be followed by unveiling the new Logo on August 9.

Audi Launches Audi A6 in India

Audi is a brand that reflects sophistication and a special aura. The German luxury car, a wholly-owned Volkswagen subsidiary is planning to launch Audi A6 this year. There have been speculated dates for the impending new Audi A6 India launch. Earlier it was rumored that the new launch will be anytime in the month of September. However, it is confirmed now that the launch of Audi A6 is scheduled for August 3rd this year.

The new Audi A6 is an upgraded version of the current Audi A6 in the market and is expected to be 80 kg lighter than the present version. The new Audi A6 will be available in four variants including the petrol, diesel and the Quattro engine variants. It will be powered with 2.8 FSI and 3.0 supercharged TFSI petrol engines. The diesel variant will have an inbuilt 2.0 TDI engine and the other variant of the new Audi A6 will be powered with Quattro engine.

Audi has popular models like crossover SUVs and supermini that claimed interest of Indians in the brand. The company has also launched the all new Audi A7 and Audi RS5 in the recent past. The Audi A6 is likely to be in the range of Rs 30 to Rs 40 lakhs. However, there has been a remarkable growth in the luxury car market in India. On the other end of the spectrum there are cost effective models like Maruti and others yet the luxury car manufacturer has an edge over the rest.

Hond to Launch New Honda Jazz This August in India

Hyundai Verna Fluidic Emerges As The Best Selling Sedan Car

The mid-sized sedan sector of Indian Auto Market has introduced some amazing sedan cars recently. Hyundai Verna Fluidic has emerged as the best-selling car in the quarter of May to June 2011, trailed by Volkswagen Vento on second position. Hyundai Verna Fluidic is wrapped up with amazing features and its enticing prize lures people to go for it. In the quarter of May to June 2011, Hyundai has managed to sell 38,174 units, exceeding the figure of the last year. With the sales figure of 10,313 units, for the quarter, Verna Fluidic emerged as the best- selling sedan car in the country.

Mr. Arvind Saxena, the director of marketing and sales of Hyundai India stated, ‘Verna targets domestic market and it has received impressive booking figures of closed to 24,000’.

As per the recent market figures, Volkswagen Vento bagged the top spot with the sale of more than 1200 cars, leaving behind the Honda City.

The director of Volkswagen Passenger car, Volkswagen India, Mr. Neeraj Garg, mentioned, ‘it is expected that the midsized sedan sector of the Indian Auto Market will continue to grow in coming months, and the major reason of the growth will be launch of new products’.

Volkswagen Vento has emerged as the second best- selling sedan car of the quarter in the Indian Auto Market. It has managed to sell around 7,726 units in the April – June Quarter. Its sales figure for the month of June (2,457 units) has exceed the figure in May (2,403 units). The USP of the car is its performance and powerful engine. Besides, its low interest rate scheme of 6.99% attracts customers. For the benefit of the customers, Volkswagen has lowered the price of Vento by Rs. 44000 to Rs.66000.

For the same quarter, Honda City has geared up its sales in June. About 2,802 Honda City’s were sold in May, 2011 which is more than last year’s sales for the month.

Ford & Nissan Leave Behind Maruti & Hyundai in Small Car Exports

The fiscal year 2011-2012 witnesses the gaining popularity in the small car exports with a record of 13.5% of growth, despite the global slowdown in the auto market for past few months. In comparison with the last year, the trend this year has recorded increase in sales for Nissan and Ford. The quarter of April-June for the year 2011 has jotted 113,372 units of exports against the 99,851 units exported last year in the micro, mini and the small car segment.

The largest auto biggies Maruti and Hyundai in India have fallen behind in the league with Ford and Nissan. Hyundai’s export has witnessed the dip in sales by 6% with only 53,125 units against last year’s 56,559 whereas Maruti’s graph has gone down by shocking 24% with only 30,254 units against last year’s 39, 804 for the same quarter, for the year 2010.

In the year 2011 while Nissan and Ford have managed to cross their sales targets in Quarter 1, Maruti and Hundai have fallen short to keep up their last year’s target. Maruti India retains the number one position with Maruti Swift, Hyundai comes second with Hyundai i10 sales followed by Ford on third position with Ford Figo. Maruti India and Hyundai have failed to accelerate their export sales in European Market after the ‘Scrappage Incentive Scheme'.

Talking about the dip in the export figures in small car segment of Quarter 1, Mr Arvind Saxena, Director of Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motors India mentioned that their focus is on the growth in the domestic market that has accelerated by 12.2% against last year’s sales. Maruti India and Hyundai India remain the top players in domestic market of small car sales whereas Ford India and Nissan rein the exported cars segment in the international market.

Maruti to revive sales and is all set to launch new models this festive season

India is a nation dependent on cost-effective shopping. Automobiles are no exception and this is proven by a host of automakers that have done phenomenally well in the small and mid size segments. Small cars with good mileage are generally the look out and what better than India 's trusted brand Maruti to justify it.

In a bid to keep up the number one position, Maruti plans to introduce more cars this festive season. Having witnessed a decline in car sales by up to 4% in June this year, Maruti is planning on launching new Maruti in the hatchback segment, new Maruti Swift Dzire in the sedan segment and the Maruti R3 in the SUV segment. The new cars will be launched by the end of 2011. The loss incurred was a result of slowdown and the 13 day strike at the Manesar plant owing to annual maintenance shutdown. Mazda to re-enter India with small car

The 5th largest Japanese auto maker is all set to launch its cars in India. Mazda will thus re-enter the Indian market with a brand new small car. As famous car companies from around the globe are trying to foray into the Indian market for their benefits, the French auto maker Peugeot –Citroen will announce its launch with a sedan. Peugeot-Citroen will be making its Indian foray after 10 years of its exit, considering the profits that its cars can make in the Indian auto market.

Mazda is popular world wide for its wide range of sports cars and the company is also famous for its Rotary engine which powers the popular car Mazda RX8. There are a few other popular models from Mazda that include Mazda Miata and Mazda MX5.

According to speculations, it is believed that the company intends to launch a small car named Mazda 2 in the country. However, Mr. Takashi Yamanouchi, President and CEO, Mazda Motor Corporation, said that they have a long line up of the small cars and the sedans, which are affordable and economical as liked by the Indian customers. The manufacturer is yet to take a decision on whether the cars will come in India through JV or will have their own subsidiary.

At the present stage, the Indian auto market is ruled by brands like Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Maruti Swift in the hatch back segment and the all new Maruti Swift Dzire, and Ford Fiesta among other sedans.

There is other two-wheeler manufacturers exist in India, but the manufacturer of Royal Enfield is totally different from others and can’t be compared with them. Before few years, Royal Enfield brand was selling almost 24,000 bikes in a year, but the selling of this brand is gradually increasing such as 70,000 bikes, which was just 52,000 units in the year of 2010 and now they are targeting 150,000 units. Newly, the eighth version of the annual survival rally of motorcyclists was flagged off at New Delhi and the name of the rally was “The Himalayan Odyssey,” In this rally 72 mobike riders begun their journey to Ladakh. Previously, Royal Enfield brand was the name for dealing motorcycles, lawnmowers, bicycles, and stationary engines.

Ford foresees India as small engine car

Ford India made its debut in Indian auto market in late 1990s, after spanning its business in different nations such as the UK, the US, the Thailand and the Australia. Ford India tasted success in India after a long wait with the launch of Ford Figo last year. The small car helped the brand to rev up sales volume and building the brand image.

However, Ford Figo proved to be a turning point in the history of Ford India as it enabled the company to establish its flagship in small car segment and ramped up the production to approximately 1 Lakh car units until todays date, in addition to this export count also followed an upward trajectory by exporting approximately 2000 cars in a month. The success that Ford Figo has earned for the company has motivated Ford India to cater the needs of customers in small car segment as Ford India has realized the potential of small cars in Indian auto markets and in line with this Ford India is eyeing to launch eight cars on Indian shores by 2015.

Adding further detail to the forthcoming launches, MD Michael Boneham said that these awaited cars are under production at Ford India's global R&D centres that span over Asia, Africa, South America, US and Europe. He further said that the swings in market clearly demonstrate that in upcoming 20 years 70 per cent of sales will be accounted from China and India and that too in small car segment.

Michael Boneham also said that India is a diversified country with lots of different colors and taste, It is a resonance of Europe with a marvelous blend of languages, culture and markets. He further added that Ford India has realized the underlying diversities in the country and the varying requirements of the customers in different parts and the company is formulating strategies accordingly. In line with this, they have also shifted their headquarters in Gurgaon from Chennai as the growth potential in North is comparatively higher than South. This is witnessed by the fact that about 20% of sales alone come from National Capital Region (NCR). This may be attributed to the fact that people in North are more outgoing and extrovert than the people in South that love to live simple lives and are more conservative.

Other than this, he said that the biggest lesson that the success of Ford Figo has taught to the company is that in India, people are more fascinated by the cars that offer more after-sales services and have high resale value and is a perfect pack of price and features.New Ford Fiesta is one of the most awaited sedan to be launched in India and relevant sources have unveiled that Ford India is all set for Ford Fiesta launch by 14 July. Ford India is currently producing many cars under its portfolio such as Ford Endeavour, Ford Fiesta, Ford Figo and Ford New Ikon.

Hero Honda reports highest ever quarterly sales of 1.5 Million

Hero Honda Motors Ltd (HHML), the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer for 10 consecutive years, today reported its highest-ever quarterly sales, riding on yet another month of five lakh-plus sales. Hero Honda notched up sales of 512,244 units in June, thereby clocking a growth of 20 per cent over the corresponding month last year when the company had sold 426,454 units. This is the first time that the company has sold five lakh-plus sales in each of the three months of a quarter, having sold 517,099 units in April and 5,00,234 units in May.

Sequentially, this is the fourth consecutive month of five lakh-plus sales for the company, having sold 515,852 units in the month of March. Hero Honda cumulative sales for the Q1 (April-June) of FY’12 were 15,29,577 units - the company’s highest-ever quarterly sales. This represents a 24 per cent growth over the corresponding quarter in FY’11 when the company had sold 12,34,039 units.

Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero Honda Motors Ltd said, “It has been a record-breaking first quarter of FY’12 for us. With sales of five lakh-plus in every month of the quarter and record 1.5 million total sales in the quarter, we have once again set new benchmarks for ourselves. The first quarter has set the pace for the rest of the financial year and has put us on course to surpass our guidance of six million sales for the fiscal. Our recent four new launches are doing exceedingly well and we look forward to maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming months.”
