The 5th largest Japanese auto maker is all set to launch its cars in India. Mazda will thus re-enter the Indian market with a brand new small car. As famous car companies from around the globe are trying to foray into the Indian market for their benefits, the French auto maker Peugeot –Citroen will announce its launch with a sedan. Peugeot-Citroen will be making its Indian foray after 10 years of its exit, considering the profits that its cars can make in the Indian auto market.
Mazda is popular world wide for its wide range of sports cars and the company is also famous for its Rotary engine which powers the popular car Mazda RX8. There are a few other popular models from Mazda that include Mazda Miata and Mazda MX5.
According to speculations, it is believed that the company intends to launch a small car named Mazda 2 in the country. Mazda 2 is a new hatchback that will come with ample space and offer good fuel economy. The other details have not yet been revealed by the company. However, Mr. Takashi Yamanouchi, President and CEO, Mazda Motor Corporation, said that they have a long line up of the small cars and the sedans, which are affordable and economical as liked by the Indian customers. The manufacturer is yet to take a decision on whether the cars will come in India through JV or will have their own subsidiary.
At the present stage, the Indian auto market is ruled by brands like Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Maruti Swift in the hatch back segment and the all new Maruti Swift Dzire, and Ford Fiesta among other sedans.
