Tata Aria To Be Launched in India

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the all new Tata Aria. Tata Aria will be its brand new crossover vehicle in the Indian market. Tata Motors announced the all new Tata Aria at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010, in January this year.

Tata Aria IndiaTata Aria is a cross between an MPV and an SUV. Tata Aria will be powered by the 2.2L Direct Injection Common Rail Diesel Engine which currently powers Tata Safari and Tata Sumo Grande.

Speaking on the entry of Tata Aria into the Indian market, an official spokesperson said "The Tata Aria should be launched most likely in May or June. We are going according to our plans. As for exporting it, we will make all our cars available outside the country depending on their need or relevance".

Tata Aria will employ a 2.2-liter direct-injection common-rail diesel engine and it will work with 138 horsepower. The engine will offer up to 320 Nm of torque. And despite sprint times, the weight and top speed have not yet been revealed. The much in news Tata Aria is optionally available in an all-wheel drive unit which delivers the torque, variably to each wheel, depending on driving conditions.

Tata Aria will be equipped with a seven-seater with sufficient height, such that passengers can walk into the Tata Aria rather than climbing into it. The rear seats can be folded to increase the cargo room. Tata Aria was first shown five years ago in Geneva and is slated for a domestic launch this summer. Although the launch date is nearing, Tata Motors has not revealed the final price or specifications of the model. It is likely to be priced between Rs. 12-15 lakh in the Indian market. Tata Motors will also introduce the model in the domestic market. But the all new Tata Aria will not be restricted to the domestic markets alone and plans for export to overseas market, at a later stage are also reported.

Hyundai Santa Fe Slated for 2010 Launch in India

The Korean leading automobile maker Hyundai Motor Limited announces the launch of one of its most popular brand 'Hyundai Santa Fe' in the Indian market. Hyundai Santa Fe is the well-liked sports utility vehicle of Korea, under Hyundai.

Hyundai Santa Fe was introduced into the International market in 2001 and it was the first car from Hyundai in SUV segment. After the Tuscan failed to make an impact in the Indian market, Hyundai is set to launch its best selling SUV Hyundai Santa Fe to the Indian market as well.

Speaking on the proposed launch of Hyundai Santa Fe by December 2010, H W Park, managing director, HMIL said "We will launch the Santa Fe in India this year. Hyundai Santa Fe will be a completely-built unit (CBU). We will consider manufacturing it as completely knocked down (CKD) unit; may be after two to three years. But, that will be done after proper feasibility studies."

Speaking on the launch of Hyundai Santa Fe, in the Indian market, HMIL Marketing and Sales Vice president Arvind Saxena has revealed that it is altogether a new entrant to the market. He added that the all new Hyundai Santa Fe would not be competing with the existing SUV 'Tuscan' from the same company.

Although Hyundai is gearing up to launch the Hyundai Santa Fe, it will not phase out Tucson, nor is it considering giving a facelift to the existing platform. Officials have also announced that both the models will not compete with each other as both will be built on different platforms. In addition to Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai is also planning to introduce an 800cc car in the Indian market by 2011. It is planning the launch of a face-lifted Hyundai i20 model in the domestic market.

Hyundai Santa Fe slated for launch in 2010, will receive a 2.4-liter base engine and a slightly tweaked exterior. The foray of Hyundai Santa Fe will be in built unit, while the company will focus on manufacturing, completely built units in the next two years time.

New TVS Max 4R to VRoom into the Indian Roads

TVS Bikes IndiaTVS India is gearing up to launch new bikes particularly TVS Max 4R, in India, to rev up the competition in the hinterland bike markets. In a bid to fight competition from Hero Honda and Bajaj, it will bring back one of its strong brands Max R. The revamped version of Max R namely TVS Max 4R is slated for launch in May in the Indian rural market.

TVS Max 4R is the upgraded version and is Bharat stage III norms compliant. Owing to the Bharat stage II norms, the then popular Max R model was discontinued in 2005. The all new TVS Max 4R will have a 4-stroke 110 cc engine, also present in the TVS Jive. The new Bharat Stage III compliant model TVS Max 4R will be targeted at heavy load carrying riders predominantly found in the rural markets.

Speaking to a leading auto magazine, a top official said "TVS Max 4R will be launched in May this year to address the market for rugged load carriers. TVS has other entry level models like Star and Sport but there seems to be void in the rugged bikes category which we wish to fill with the new TVS Max4R. The all new TVS Max4R will be run by an 110cc engine, borrowed from its sibling; TVS Jive". He added "TVS Max 4R will compete with Hero Honda's CD Dawn and Bajaj's Platina".

The low end and rural motorcycle market in India, is very large. It is dominated by Hero Honda and Bajaj. Hero Honda has popular models like CD Dawn and CD Deluxe while Bajaj has a strong presence with its models like Discover and Pulsar. The brand new model TVS Max 4R is likely to give stiff competition to these models and the estimated price will be Rs. 35,000.

Tata Nano Now Available Easily as Sanand Plant Inaugurated by Narendra Modi

Tata Motors' brand new plant for the Tata Nano at Sanand, in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat, was inaugurated today by the Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi, in the presence of the Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors, Mr. Ratan N. Tata, Ministers of the Gujarat Government, top officials, vendor and supplier partners, dealers and associates of the company.

Tata NanoThe plant's inauguration marks the culmination of the company's goal of making the Tata Nano freely available to hundreds of thousands of families, desirous of the car. The capacity of the plant, to begin with, will be 250,000 cars per year to be achieved in phases, and with some balancing is expandable up to 350,000 cars per year. Further capacity expansion has also been provided for in this location.

We would like to thank everyone who has made this possible, particularly the Honourable Chief Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. We would also like to thank the people of Gujarat on this occasion. I am glad that we will now be able to manufacture the Tata Nano at a plant, set up in record time by the Tata Motors team who have and continue to receive full support from the Gujarat administration. This will now allow us to better meet the strong demand for the Tata Nano across the country."

Deliveries from the plant, including BS4 Tata Nanos, will begin this month. The output, supplemented by the facility at Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), will in the immediate phase complete pending orders from the booking process of 2009.

Built in a record time of 14 months starting November 2008, the integrated facility comprises Tata Motors' own plant, spread over 725 acres, and an adjacent vendor park, spread over 375 acres, to house key component manufacturers for the Tata Nano.

In line with latest world-class manufacturing practices, the Tata Nano plant has been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. They include sophisticated robotics and high speed production lines. Conscious of the critical need of environment protection, the plant has energy-efficient motors, variable frequency drives, and systems to measure and monitor carbon levels. These are supplemented with extensive tree plantation, sustainable water sourcing through water harvesting and ground water recharging and harnessing solar energy for illumination.

In November 2008 itself, simultaneously with the construction of the plant, Tata Motors also began its community development activities in the area. These initiatives, encompassing 20 villages in a 20-km radius, are on health, education, employability and environment enhancement. The initiatives have already led to provision of drinking water for about 10,000 residents, sanitation for about 600 households, competency upgradation of about 140 primary school teachers, employability enhancement for about 500 men and women. The company is committed to developing the area, converting it into a beehive of inclusive growth.

The plant has already directly employed 2,400 individuals. The recruitment exercise covered about 156 ITIs in Gujarat. As the capacity is increased, the project, along with the vendor park, is expected to generate about 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.

At the vendor park, plots have already been allocated to 41 vendors. More will be accommodated subsequently. Vendors, accounting for about 80% of the value of components to be sourced from the park, have already begun construction. In the interim, they will supply the plant from their existing facilities in the country.

To celebrate the inauguration of the plant, a fleet of Tata Nanos driven by prospective customers, who participated in an online contest on tatanano.com, began a country-wide drive, called the Nano Superdrive, from Sanand today. The drive was flagged off by Mr. Tata. The drive will cover 15,000 km touching 36 cities across the country, before converging at Sanand on June 28.
