Maruti Cervo Priced Between Rs. 1.5 Lakh to 2 Lakh

Maruti 800 will soon be replaced with its revamped version - Maruti Cervo. Maruti Cervo will be viable for sale in India, after April 2010, when the new emission norms come into force. Maruti claims that the new car would give stiff competition to all the other existing and upcoming small car models in India.

Maruti Cervo will be launched as a 5-door car model and it will be the cheapest offering from Maruti Suzuki. The interiors will resemble that of Maruti Swift with enough head space, leg room and comfy boot space. Maruti Cervo is likely to hit the Indian market in the second quarter of the year. Ford Figo to Roll Out of Chennai Plant in March

Ford Figo is a hit with Indian dealers, so much so that, the car is set to roll out commercially starting February 05 from Ford's Chennai plant. Ford India has its manufacturing facility at Sriperumbudur near Chennai where it currently manufactures Ford Ikon, Fiesta and Endeavour. The Ford Figo will be manufactured completely in India and will share its technology with Ford Fiesta. It will be exported overseas mainly to markets in Asia-Pacific and African regions.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled the 2010 M-Class in two variants for India - the Sports and Luxury edition loaded with features. The Sport Edition of the M-Class is priced at Rs. 55 Lakhs while the Luxury Edition is priced at Rs. 60.9 lakhs Ex-showroom Delhi.

Maruti to Launch its First Made In India Car in 2012

Maruti Suzuki - the leading family car manufacturer in the Indian auto market has new plans for the Indian roads. The first ever, Made-In-India car, is slated for a 2012 release after a stupendous market presence for more than few decades.

The phenomenal success of Maruti may be measured through the company's performance that has outgrown its parent company Suzuki Motor Corp. in sales figures. Suzuki's R&D facility in Japan and India has been the research ground for all Maruti products till date. But now, MSIL plans to augment the manufacturing plants and produce vehicles in India. It will first work on its own research facility near Rohtak.

Automajor Maruti has been on a talent hunt globally and has recruited 1000 engineers for its all new R&D facility. Maruti will unveil it's wholly 'Made In India car' by 2012. Talking about the launch plans, Maruti Suzuki chairman, RC Bhargava said, "The idea is that the development of small new cars particularly for India should be done more and more in India." The car would be one of its kinds. It would be conceived, designed, developed and produced exclusively in India. The R&D facility at Rohtak will be entirely taken over by Maruti as a self-contained set up.

Maruti's current most successful models, exemplified by A-Star, Ritz and Eeco have established the auto major's strength and proficiency in developing cars, exclusively based on customer choice.

Aston Martin Plans to Sell Luxury Sports Cars in India

Aston Martin, the world renowned luxury car brand from Britain is gearing up to enter the Indian market. The luxury car brand is in talks with various dealerships across India, in a bid to appoint suitable dealers. The talks are still in a budding stage and a spokesperson from Martin’s headquarters in Warwickshire, England said, "We are actively looking at the Indian market."

Deepesh Rathore, managing director with business analyst IHS Global Insight said, "The luxury car market is tilted to fresh arrivals as the buyer in this segment, is always looking for exclusivity". He added, "Hence there will always be potential for a new player entering the market."

The year 2008, was a fruitful one for luxury car makers, as India was the only market that ended on a positive note with a promise of brighter prospects. 2009 was fairly successful too and Aston Martin intends to make hay while the sun shines on the Indian shores.

Porsche 911 Series Cars to Hit Indian Roads

Renowned German luxury sports car maker Porsche is intending to introduce the new Porsche 911 series cars in the Indian market. According to a statement released by Porsche, the company will be showcasing the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet at the Geneva Motor Show to be held in March this year.

Porsche 911 Turbo SPorsche company official said "The models can be ordered (in India) today but worldwide deliveries will begin in May." Turbo S is a six-cylinder boxer engine enhanced by two exhaust gas turbochargers having variable turbine geometry. Turbo S comes exclusively with the seven-speed PDK double-clutch gearbox and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds reaching 200 km/h in just 10.8 seconds. It is also capable of achieving top speed of 315 kmph. Despite the fact that the car offers better performance than 911 Porsche Turbo, it does not consume as much fuel as its predecessor making it one of the most fuel efficient sports cars.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is expected to be priced at Rs. 1.87 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet will cost above Rs. 2 crores.

Toyota to Recall 3000 Prius While Its India Launch Remains Undeterred

Toyota is planning to recall 3000 models of its hybrid car Toyota Prius that have shown braking problems. Toyota has apparently been reeling under safety woes which have now turned from a snowball into an avalanche. Toyota Prius has emerged as the best loved cars of Hollywood and of environmentalists.

Toyota Prius India"The company has notified its dealers in Japan that it would recall all the (new model Prius) vehicles sold in the country," quoted a mass-circulation newspaper, without giving a source. The Yomiuri Shimbun, Japanese newspaper said "The Company will also repair the software free of charge in the United States and other countries in a similar manner". The repairs will include upgrading the anti-lock braking system software issue that seems to have caused the trouble. Toyota will recall early this week, at least 311,000 units of its 2010 Prius gas-electric hybrid to fix its existing braking system said a person familiar with the matter, added 'The Sunday', an American publication.

The manufacturing units in the United States have begun manufacturing eight Toyota models that were involved in safety recall. The work was halted for a week but the US and Canadian plants recommenced production this week. However, an official of Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) -- the Indian joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and the Kirloskar Group said "Our plans remain absolutely unchanged. Bookings had started by January and the vehicles will be delivered by March-end or April beginning." The launch will go as planned and TKM has already received 54 bookings from Indian customers.
