Flying Car Now a Reality by 2011!

For those of us who have always dreamed of a flying car, there's reason to rejoice. An American company called Terrafugia near Boston has developed a concept car called "The Transition". It can seat up to two people and fly in the air at up to 115 miles per hour and cruise for up to 450 miles. This dual concept vehicle is equipped with a front wheel drive for the roads and a foldable wing and it can be parked in any single car garage. It uses a propeller provided at the rear for traversing through the air. Transition uses unleaded petrol as fuel for both on ground as well as in flight modes.

Flying Car by 2011Though this car is capable of taking off from any road, the laws in the United States allow it to take off from any general aviation airport. Despite the fact that only one prototype has been developed so far, it is expected to be a reality by around 2011. Set up in 2006, the Company Terrafugia is run by engineers and MBA from of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). The vehicle is expected to cost around $200,000, but it seems that folks are undeterred by the high cost, as the company has already received orders for 60 vehicles so far.

For you are interested in beating that congested city traffic, this flying car offers a convenient way of taking to the air and avoiding any hassles. If you wish to come down to earth, then just touch down and the flying car will fold its wings in 30 seconds. With the completion of the first step of the four stage production process, the company will now move to the next stage of developing the Beta prototype. Nearly 28 different tests have been carried out on the flying car. Flying this car will need a sport pilot certificate since it has been categorized as a light sport aircraft.

Daniel Velandia Completes 35,000 Miles on Bajaj Pulsar 180cc DTSi

When a Columbian biker began what he thought was just a fun ride across South America and Africa, but this experiment transformed into a journey of self expression and freedom for Daniel Velandia. Though cross country and international bike rides have become more common these days, Daniel chose India's very own Bajaj Pulsar 180cc DTSi for this purpose.

Bajaj Pulsar 180cc DTSiFondly calling his bike Elvira, Daniel commenced his journey from Medellin in Columbia and traveled towards Argentina. From there he flew to South Africa for the second part of the Journey. This leg took him from Lesotho to Turkey via various mesmerizing places in Namibia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Egypt. From here, Daniel turned towards Iran and Pakistan, finally entering India on 30 April, 2009.

The entire trip was 14 months long and was sponsored by Auteco, which is Bajaj Auto's largest distributorship in Columbia. Daniel witnessed several moving experiences during his trip. Some of these include a rousing welcome in Argentina, a free boat ride in Sudan across the river Nile and a lunch in the middle of desert.

Bajaj Pulsar 180cc DTSiThe event had some minor hair raising incidents, especially when he had a nasty fall in Namibia and a magneto failure in Turkey. Bajaj Auto promptly shipped him a replacement. Though the Bajaj Pulsar had stock parts, there was minor altering for the crash guard the front bikini faring, GPS holder and fitment for the panniers.

Daniel reached Bajaj Auto's Pune factory on 30 April 2009, where he was felicitated and presented with a scale model of the Bajaj Pulsar 220cc DTS-Fi. Actually, the Bajaj Pulsar is very popular in Columbia and there they enjoy a strong following. Events like weekend rides, annual gatherings, bike show offs etc are extremely popular. Besides this accomplishment, the Bajaj Pulsar has also gathered a lot of accolades like completing the Pan Americana Rally, which was held in 2006. This along with the already sturdy reputation of the bike will help Bajaj to strengthen their market position in the country.

Honda to Relaunch Civic Hybrid Version in India

Immediately after 6 months of launch in June 2008 Honda Siel Cars India (HSCIL) stopped selling its hybrid car 'Civic Hybrid' from last November is likely to bring back its hybrid version to India after the Central budget as it is believed that Union government would bring down the import duty on motor vehicles by the company.

Honda Civic HybridTatsuya Natsume, director-marketing of HSCIL, the Indian subsidiary of Japanese car giant Honda Motor said that, "We are watching the Budget. If the import duty is reduced, we may consider to restart selling Civic Hybrids in India".

Honda Civic Hybrid was discontinued to sell in India by Honda due to high import duty. He said that, "By the time the Civic Hybrid lands in India, the price is doubled due to import duty that stood at 104%." He added that the excise duty and VAT further increased the on-road price of the car. Honda Civic Hybrid was the first ever hybrid technology car launched in India. Honda sold around 300 cars in India during its brief presence in India between June-November 2008 after importing them from Japan as completely built units (CBUs).

The company has taken a hit due to its hybrid launch, as it had cut down the price from Rs 21 lakh to Rs 13 lakh within two months of the launch to clear the inventory, said a HSCIL official requesting anonymity. The official said that the company sold only 60 cars at the original price tag of Rs 21.5 lakh while the remaining 240 vehicles were sold at the discounted price of Rs 13.36 lakh.

Used Car Buying Tips: Guide on How to Buy a Used Car

Many customers prefer choosing an used car over a new one for a variety of reasons. Buying used cars has become easier than before, but there are some precautions that you need to follow before you actually end up buying a used car. This is to ensure that you don't loose your valuable money for something that is worthless and of no value later. This article outlines some tips and precautions on purchasing old cars.

Used Car Buying TipsMany cars even today are sold in an "as is" condition. However that can be very risky if you do not understand what could be wrong with the condition of the car. Also, you might not be sure about its insurance and warranty aspects. It's always advisable to thoroughly inspect the condition of the car and investigate its ownership before you sign on the dotted line. Make sure you aren't buying a lemon, but something that will give you peace of mind and value for your money.

Despite many common notions, not all aspects of a used car are bad. If you are sure about what you are purchasing, then a used car can still be a great value for money. For instance, you many not need to pay a hefty insurance amount on an old car due to its depreciated value. Also, you might be able to obtain a cheaper loan for a used car.

Before you venture out to buy a used car, it's always advisable to set a budget on how much you would like to spend. It is likely that you might need to touch up the car to match your tastes once you have purchased it, so include this amount in your budget too.

Used Car Buying TipsThe next important question is what car or model you should buy. This usually depends upon your lifestyle and your needs. If you are considering a car for work or doing errands for family, then a smaller car will suit your needs. If you have more of the lifestyle aspect in mind, then a mid range car should suit you good. However, a used midsized car could demand more attention in the form of maintenance, fuel, tires, and spare parts.

The best advice is to take into consideration your future needs as well since your car will be around for quite some time after you purchase it. Another good advice is to talk to friends and colleagues on which makes and models are worthy as a used buy, since some can turn out to be more reliable than the others. Also gather tit bits of information from a variety of sources to keep your self informed about used cars and their performance. Word of mouth is also a good way to know about the used car market.

While purchasing an old car, you might want to know how old really a car should be. Unless you intentionally want to purchase a very old car, a car which is about two or three years old should ideally fit the bill. In some cases where the car is between three to five years old can also be ideal for your purpose, provided it has been well maintained by its previous owner.

Used Car Buying TipsSince you are on your way to purchase an old car, there's no reason why you should you should spend too much for it. Normally, a used car shouldn't cost you the moon. If you are facing problems on how much money you need to spend for the car, start with doing some research on the internet. Alternatively, ask a valuator to give you a proper valuation of the car. It is always advisable to get a mechanic along to check the car especially the engine and the underneath.

Always endeavor to take a test drive of the vehicle. Look for signs of trouble in the engine, and check if there's any unusual noise or vibration coming from it. Also make sure the engine starts instantly. Test other components of the car like the brakes, the accelerator and the steering wheel. If you require the car for city driving, then check if the car has a power steering which works perfectly. If the car has manual transmission, check if the gears shift properly. Enquire about the car's mileage, and also do your own exercise to find that out. Test drive the car in various conditions such as lean and heavy traffic, on the highway, and off-road/hilly conditions if possible.

Another important aspect is to examine the car's exterior. Look for any signs of an accident, which will be indicated by dents in the body or the fenders. If the car is too old, or has been exposed too much to the weather, then there will be obvious signs of cracks and rust. Check for other signs of wear and tear, such as worn out tires, cranky jack, leaking oil, worn shock absorbers, and rust on the car floor under the mats.

After you are done with examining the exterior, examine the interior as well. Check simple things like the headlights, tail-lights, horn, mirror, seat belts, dashboard, stereo, condition of the upholstery etc. Also check whether the doors open and close properly, and take your own time to inspect other minor things that might escape attention.

Used Car Buying TipsAt the same time it is always advisable to check the car's papers. Always insist that you want to see the original papers or at least a certified copy. During the closing stages of the deal, insist that the owner hand over the original papers. Also, verify if there are no outstanding loans against the car, or if the owner is not selling you a car which was leased from someone else. These days, a lot of stolen cars also end up in the used car market, so verify if the car is not a stolen vehicle as well.

When you make an offer to purchase, you might want to specify some conditions to your purchase. For example you might want your mechanic to inspect the car before you make a purchase, or you would purchase the vehicle if the bank clears your used car loan application. If possible, make a written offer along with the conditions you specify. If the owner asks for a deposit, specify that the deposit be refunded if the mechanic does not approve the car or if you fail to get the loan. Also suggest that the seller takes back the car if major problems arise with the car such as its engine within, say, a month of purchase.

When you buy a car make sure the ownership gets transferred to you and the seller has realized the payment completely. Talk to the owner of the car in person rather than his or her agent. These steps will ensure that the buying-selling process goes smoothly. Many a times, the car is sold through a used car dealership. In this case, don't commit anything and tell the salesman that you are looking for more options before you are willing to buy the model you are interested in. Also, find out if the dealer is willing to offer any warranty on the used car.

Many used car dealers utilize a lot of tricks to get their sale and commission, so ensure that you are in control of the conversation and the buying process rather than the opposite. If you feel that you are being tricked into a deal, don't hesitate to leave that dealership. Buy your used car from somewhere else!

To summarize, examine all aspects of the used car from its condition to ownership before you actually purchase it. Check the car's previous maintenance record and mileage with the owner or the car dealer. If the car has undergone too many repairs before, avoid that car. Make sure you get a written agreement done for your used car purchase and the ownership vehicle is transferred to you. Let's hope that your used car gives you the reliability and satisfaction that you deserve.

Used Car Selling Tips: How You Can Sell Your Car

Used Car Selling TipsIf you are planning to sell your car for whatever reasons, then you should consider a few things before you actually sell your car. First of all, selling a car in the used car market is much simpler and easier that it was before. With the advent of the internet and the new market economy in India, there is a large market for used and second hand cars.

To begin with, you can bring down the cost of advertising your used car by using online resources rather than primarily going in for classifieds in the print media. Also, use viral marketing and word of mouth to advertise your used car. By opting to sell your car yourself, you do with the middlemen in the trade and save yourself a handsome sum which would otherwise have gone away as commission.

You might be puzzled about the price you wish to sell your used car for. Relax, there is no need to worry! Start with a little research on the internet. You can visit car sites like www.infibeam.com to research about your used car prices. If you happen to be from the United States, then sites like www.autotrader.com, www.cars.com, and www.carsdirect.com can help you to research your old car purchase.

Doing so will give you the confidence to bargain with buyers interested in purchasing your used car. At the same time, you can list your car on these sites to solicit offers. You can specify if you are open for bargaining or that you are in the asking for a fixed price.

Used Car Selling TipsFor many used car owners, it is important to understand that keeping your car spruced up and clean will fetch you more money. People go for the looks. After all, looks make the first impression. If you want customers to appreciate and buy your old car, then it is extremely important that you keep it clean and tidy and maintain it properly as well.

So, if you are expecting a customer to come and take a look at your used car, then the least you can do is to wash the car and polish it. Also clean the car's interiors and throw out all the rubbish from you car and boot. Check the oil levels and replace the oil if necessary. Check if there are any noises emanating from the car and eliminate the cause of noise as far as possible. Clean the windscreen, rear screen, and window glass. Wash the tires, and also clean the wheel covers or the alloy wheels. Once you have taken care of the car's condition, get all your car documents and records together and place them in a file. Keep the car's original papers together, as all this will show that you are a well organized and a meticulous owner.

With these things in place, the time is now ripe to place an ad for your car. Today, most buyers look up online sites for their search. The times of placing ads in newspapers are now waning. Moreover, placing online advertisements is cost effective and works out to be cheaper than newspaper ads in the long run. With online advertisements, you get the opportunity to upload your car's photographs, mention its salient points, and specify any additional features that you car has such as an expensive stereo player or premium upholstery.

Used Car Selling TipsYou should keep a few things in mind which will help your customers reach you faster. Take good pictures of your car and upload them on the website. This will help your customers to make faster and better decisions. Avoid taking pictures in the dark, and prefer a natural looking picture for your car taken preferably during early hours of the day or a few hours before its too dark. Also mention details like the kilometers run, insurance, and warranties existing if any.

The next step is to await customer responses. Most likely, customers who are genuinely interested in buying will like to see your car personally. Prior to this, they may make inquiries by telephone or email. You should be in a position to answer these queries as candidly as possible.

You can invite customers to your residence or your place of work to view the car. Mention time that you expect to see the prospective buyer. Also, see that both sides respect each other's time and remain punctual about this. Just in case you feel uncomfortable about calling the buyer home, then call him to a place that is extremely familiar to you and that there are people you know around you at that time.

Used Car Selling TipsIf your prospective driver wants to inspect the car, then that's fine. However, make sure that he does not drive away the car alone for a test ride. Always accompany the buyer with at least one friend. Also, check if the buyer has a valid driving license before you hand over the wheel to him or her. Move ahead with the bargaining process and try and reserve the car for the prospective buyer. In this case, make sure that you collect a deposit from the prospective buyer. Incase the deal doesn’t mature, you can refund the deposit. It's perfectly fine to bargain the price, but it's bad to show that you want to sell the car desperately. After the meeting is over, give a few days for the buyer to compose his or her mind and only then contact the prospective buyer if there is no response.

Once the buyer agrees to purchase the car, you will need to go through the paper work required for the transfer. These formalities involve the RTO department, so you can get in touch with the pertaining RTO office for the transfer forms and other paperwork. Sometimes, your friendly car dealer can also help you in this connection.
