Maruti Suzuki Kizashi Coming Soon in India

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is sprucing up to launch a new sedan in India. The new model will be titled "Maruti Kizashi" and is likely to be launched by 2010.


Maruti Kizashi is still in the concept stage in India. Maruti Suzuki Kizashi was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007 and later at the 9th Auto Expo in New Delhi in 2008. Maruti Kizashi will be priced at Rs. 10 lakh and therefore will be a premium car with luxury features.

Maruti Kizashi comes with an outstanding aero-dynamic design with front view featuring a completely stylish look. There is a new innovative tapering headlights and classic front design that is unseen so far in Maruti small car models in India. This new upcoming model can rightfully be attributed as a cross-over sports sedan.

Maruti has very recently launched yet another small car model, Maruti Ritz, in India but it is yet to make its impact in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki India Limited; India's largest car manufacturer that sells nearly every second car in India is contemplating an expansion of its product portfolio; especially in the sedan segment. As of now, Maruti Swift and Swift DZire attribute to a majority of its sales.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said "My concern is about the quality of our growth. Although we achieved good overall national numbers, the region-wise and model-wise performance was not uniform. We relied mostly on Dzire and Swift to power our growth."

Hyundai 'Accent ECO' With LPG Kit Launched in India

Hyundai Motor India Ltd., the country's largest passenger car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer, as part of its initiative to promote eco-friendly and non-polluting means of transport, today launched its LPG variant of the very popular Hyundai Accent. The LPG, bi-fuel variant will be priced at Rs 533,900 which is Rs 34,900 more than the existing petrol model and it is fitted with an engine immobilizer as a standard fitment for added security.

The new LPG version of Hyundai Accent, named as Hyundai Accent eco (eco is synonymous with environmentally friendly and economy) comes with a factory fitted LPG kit approved and certified by the Department of Explosives (DOE) and Automotive research Authority of India (ARAI), the country's premier automobile testing and certifying authority.

Powered by the 1.5 litre engine which is mated to a 5 speed, manual Transmission, the Hyundai Accent eco offers its customers a unique combination of safe and reliable performance with an unmatched fuel economy. With separate Petrol (45 Litre) and LPG (27.2 litre) fuel tanks, the customers has an option to choose from both LPG and petrol driving mode. The LPG tank in the Accent eco has a special ‘Toroidal’ design that allows intelligent use of space and makes for a larger luggage room available to the customer.

Bajaj to Launch New Bajaj Discover 125cc Bike

Bajaj Auto is all set to launch the 125cc variant of its popular model 'Bajaj Discover' in India. Currently it sells Bajaj Discover 135cc variant in India and the model was refreshed last year.

Bajaj has revamped the entire Bajaj Pulsar family and is currently contemplating on doing the same with Bajaj Discover. Bajaj XCD 125cc could not make a huge impact on the market and its sales did not hit off too well either.

Audi Q5 to Hit Indian Roads in June

With the success of its various models in India, Audi is entirely prepared for the launch of its latest model Audi Q5 in India. The Audi Q5 is a Crossover Utility Vehicle, and will be launched in the first week of June 2009. This launch is expected to usher in more competition for the major contenders in the market. Unveiled at the 2008 Beijing Auto Show, the Audi Q5 is expected to be globally launched by the year end. The Audi Q5 has sporty looks as it is just 1.65 meters (5.41 feet) tall. Additionally, it is 4.63 meters (15.19 feet) long and 1.88 meters (6.17 feet) wide. With a low drag coefficient of 0.33, it lays down another benchmark in its class.


The car industry has also witnessed BMW unseat Mercedes to take the top position in the market. Audi intends to take the competition to a new level by competing head on with these two rivals. The Audi Q5 is a direct competitor of the BMW X3 in India. Expected to be cheaper by a few lakhs to compete with this model, it is expected to draw away customers from luxury saloons like the Mercedes E-Class and the BMW 5-Series.

Audi Q5 is slated for launch on June 4th in Mumbai, Maharashtra and the base model will be priced at Rs. 37.5 lakh. The top end model will cost up to Rs. 45 lakh that will come loaded with extra options. The car features extra styling at the rear, taking cues from the Audi Q7, which has emerged as a popular option with buyers and designers. Audi expects big volume orders from emerging markets such as China, India, and Russia. Deliveries will initiate in Europe and will initially ship as Completely Built Units (CBU's), though the company could begin assembling the Audi Q5 in the country later.

The Audi Q5 is expected to have three engine options for its European debut – 170 BHP 2.0L turbo diesel, and a top of the range 240 BHP 3.0 turbo diesel. Of these engines, the Audi Q5 destined for India will feature the 2.0 turbo petrol and 3.0 turbo diesel engines. These will be mated to a seven speed dual clutch gearbox. Audi has committed an investment of 30 million Euros in India till 2015.

The Audi Q5 for India will be a 5 seater, targeting a customer segment lower than that for the Audi Q7. According to company officials, Audi Q5 is slightly different from the international version as it is designed in view of the present infrastructure in India. Like other Audi models, the Q5 focuses more on emotion than rationality. The present Audi Q5 reflects the style, luxuriance, and sportiness of the Q5 series. Presently, the company will launch only 2 models of the Q5 in the country, which will be exported as CBUs from the company's Ingolstadt manufacturing facility. The company has plans to launch the Audi Q5 globally by the end of the present year.

Bajaj to Launch Kawasaki Ninja 250R Bike in India Soon

Bajaj has announced the launch of Kawasaki Ninja 250R in May this year. Kawasaki Ninja 250R is one of the best selling bikes from the Kawasaki stables. Speaking at the launch, MD Rajiv Bajaj said "The Kawasaki Ninja 250 will be launched by May or June". He added that the Kawasaki Ninja would be priced around Rs 2 lakh.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R bike is renowned for its splendid combination of power and fuel efficiency. Other features that make this bike a popular toy among the experience bikers is certainly its light handling and comfort. Kawasaki Ninja 250R can be considered to be an entry level sports bike although it can pass off for a good street bike as well.

Kawasaki Ninja will be introduced as a completely-built unit. Bajaj owns nearly 30% stake in KTM. The company plans to introduce more bikes from Austrian maker KTM and bigger bikes like Duke and RR will be assembled in the local facility, therefore they will be highly affordable.

However, Bajaj will be importing the Ninja as CKD (completely knocked down) units from Thailand to save on custom duties. DOHC 249cc parallel twin cylinder engine offering good mass centralization and improved handling are the main highlights of the new bike.

The dual overhead camshafts ensure that the bike offers good low and mid range torque. The overall design of the bike is very well balanced and wind tunnel tested. The trademark Ninja styling is carried from its bigger siblings. The Kawasaki Ninja 250R is equipped with all the desirable features which are a prerequisite for a good biking experience.

The Kawasaki Ninja is sure to do good business with its beginner friendly low-end grunt and a lively top-end rush. The compact size, outstanding pose value and low price tag are the enticing factors of the all new Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

Fiat Grande Punto in India – The Car to Wait For

Fiat Launches Premium Hatchback Car 'Grande Punto' in India

The Fiat Grande Punto, which is going to be launched in the first week of June, is a steal over the Fiat Linea in many ways. A remarkable and large hatchback by Indian standards, it is the third generation of the Fiat Punto which was launched globally in 2005. Fiat Grande Punto, designed by Giorgetto Giugario, has transformed Fiat's fortunes in European countries. Fiat Grande Punto actually brought back Fiat from the verge of bankruptcy after its introduction there.

Coming with EURO NCAP 5 star ratings, Grande Punto is rated as one of the safest cars which will ply soon on Indian roads. Fiat has already commenced with training sessions and product demonstrations for dealers. With its manufacturing base in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, it is expected that the company will commence deliveries shortly from here.

Fiat Grande Punto's main competitors are expected to be the Hyundai i20 and perhaps even the Skoda Fabia. At the moment it seems that the car's success will depend upon its pricing, and if it is priced at the level of the Hyundai i20, the car could become a winner literally. However, at this time it is not sure if the Fiat Grande Punto will be priced in the range of a premium hatch or as an economical car. Also, the engine may be in the same range as the Fiat Linea, making it a better vehicle to drive due to the lack of a boot and lesser weight. More details about the features, power, and specifications of the Grand Punto are expected from the manufacturer soon.

For now, it seems that the Fiat Grande Punto will be launched in three variants - Active, Dynamic, and Emotion. The Active variant is expected to be fitted with a 1.2L petrol engine, while the Dynamic and Emotion will be fitted with a 1.4L petrol engine. The car will also feature a 1.3L multi-jet diesel engine, which is reputed for its superior performance and fuel economy. The price of the petrol version of the Fiat Grand Punto is expected to be between Rs. 4.5 lakhs to Rs. 6 lakhs (ex-showroom in Mumbai), while the diesel version is expected to be priced between Rs. 5.25 lakh to Rs. 6.5 lakhs.

Honda Jazz to be Launched with "Made in India" Engine

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. will launch its latest model in India, the Honda Jazz, with a 1.2 L i-VTEC engine which has been specially developed for the Indian Market. The 1.2L i-VTEC engine reflects the company's commitment towards India and its continued focus on bringing in the latest global technology into the country.

The new powertrain is a four - cylinder, 1198 cc engine featuring Programmed Fuel Injection delivering class - leading Power of 90 PS (66 kW) @ 6,200 rpm and Torque of 110 Nm (11.2 kg-m) @ 4800 rpm while giving impressive fuel economy of 16.1 km/l as per ARAI test data. In line with Honda's mission to reduce its environmental footprint, the new engine is E10 compatible and has Euro IV emission levels.

The i-VTEC regulates the opening of air-fuel intake valves and exhaust valves in accordance with engine speeds. The development work for this engine was done in Honda R&D centre in Tochigi Japan.

"Ritz is good pick up and good mileage also - i think approximately diesel 22kmpl and petrol approximately 19 kmpl. It is a good drive with better visibility and more space for front and rear seats boot space is also excellent.

I think that Ritz is competitor of i20. The engine cc of ritz is 1197 cc and ps is 87@6000rpm. The car has good ground clearance. The car's turning radius is 4.7m. The car is available in 8 colours and totally different colours."

Bajaj-KTM Plans to Launch Streetbikes in India Soon

The Indo-Austrian motorcycle alliance of Bajaj Auto and KTM would soon be launching their first streetbikes in the Indian market. The Streetbikes will be introduced at the biennial Auto Expo in 2010.

KTM, the Austrian company manufactures motorcycles having engines ranging from 50cc to 1,200cc. and the Pune-based Bajaj Auto, India’s second-largest two-wheeler maker, has 31.72 per cent stake in it.

Bajaj & KTM have been working on the development of 125cc and 250cc motorcycles following an agreement in November 2007. Both bikes will be powered by liquid-cooled four-stroke engines.

KTM plans to showcase these high-performance products at the international bike fair, EICMA, to be held in Milan, Italy, this November, and subsequently at the Auto Expo in New Delhi in January.

Bajaj Auto is also revamping its entire product range, sold under the Bajaj Pulsar brand, with modifications in the exterior body and the engine. The company is also launching a completely new product later this year.

Bajaj and KTM had also planned to launch a few big bikes of KTM, including the 690 Supermoto, street bike 690 Duke, 990 Adventure, 250 EXC-F and the 990 Superduke in India last year.
