Nissan Motors India is geared up to launch their latest endeavor, the Nissan Micra or March in early 2010. This small car (Nissan Micra) project undertaken by Nissan Motor is apparently on schedule and the car will soon be seen on Indian roads.
Speaking about the launch, Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Nissan Motor India's Managing Director and CEO said "Our plans are on track and our first car will be the Nissan Micra hatchback. The Nissan Micra is known as March in Japan and the India version will be christened either Micra or March."
In addition to the Nissan Micra, the company also aims to launch 4 to 5 models in next five years. "We propose to launch four to five models over the next four-five years in the Indian market. Our first car is scheduled for launch by summer 2010," said Tokuyama.
Nissan India is also setting up a new manufacturing unit in Oragadam near Chennai in association with the French auto maker Renault. The fifty-fifty joint venture company will have an annual capacity of manufacturing nearly 4 lakh cars in India. This facility will not merely cater to the domestic but also the overseas demands of models from both the companies.
