From yesterday, companies and organisations can be found guilty of corporate manslaughter as a result of serious management failures that result in fatalities. The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 came into force on April 6th and clarifies the criminal liabilities of companies where serious failures in the management of health and safety result in a death. Proof that a single person was to blame is no longer needed, it now must be proved that senior management had some involvement. The Act is likely to effect businesses that use company cars or vans and Mercedes-Benz can provide solutions.
